Analysis of Polarization Curves Under Mixed Activation-Diffusion Control: An Algorithm to Minimize Human Factors

A substantial part of corrosion research relies on the analysis polarization curves to obtain currents, Tafel slopes, and other parameters, such as exchange current densities. This, often manual, remains highly subjective, which hampers reproducibility makes a comparison reported rates, or densities from different literature sources difficult. One reason is that strongly influenced by selected range measured data. To improve this, we developed Python library for reliable curves. particular novelty an algorithm designed fit under mixed activation-diffusion control, situation encountered in research. This reduces subjectivity related potential range. Moreover, offers possibility diagnose quantify accuracy fit. We use experimentally test proposed approach show without clear, purely activation-controlled region cathodic branch, accurate consistent only possible applying control technique. Re-evaluation data shows variability slopes can be greatly reduced. Thus, here open-access may foster enhance comparability
